The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Tajikistan Meteorological Agency, informs citizens that from May 17 to 18 of this year, there will be heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the country. The possibility of flooding is also present. In addition, in the mountainous regions and near the borders of the country, except for the Vakhsh River Basin, there is a possibility of sudden rises in water levels in the rivers of Yakhsoo and Qizilsu (south). There is no apparent danger of landslides, hail, or rockfall on mountain roads.   Furthermore, the Committee advises citizens who are planning to travel during this time to be cautious and to avoid traveling on mountain roads, especially to riverbanks and reservoirs. It is also recommended to delay travel plans altogether. The Committee also requests that citizens take precautions when traveling on mountain roads and near rivers, and to avoid areas prone to landslides, floods, whirlpools, mudflows, and rockfall.   In addition, the Committee urges citizens to take preventative measures against the risks of flooding, such as cleaning drainage channels, riverbanks, and canals, and to avoid causing damage to homes, people, and fields."                                                                                                                                             Source: khf.tj
